For allegedly beating up officials of the Ikeja Electric, a housewife, Cecilia Osuji, and her daughter, Vivian, were on Thursday brought before the Lagos State Magistrates’ Court in Ogba.
It was gathered that the duo, on July 26 in the Alagbado area of Lagos, beat up the IE officials identified simply as Damilare, Emmanuel and Lateef, while performing their official duties and damaged their ladder.
It was learnt that the officials were in the area to disconnect power supply to the defendants’ house over huge indebtedness, but they were obstructed and beaten up with pipes, which allegedly caused grievous bodily harm on them.
Cecilia and Vivian were arraigned on four counts of conspiracy, breach of peace, assault and damage.
They pleaded not guilty to the charges.
According to the police prosecutor, Ezekiel Ayorinde, the offences contravene sections 173, 350 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The presiding magistrate, B. O. Osunsanmi, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N200,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
